This Études Vivantes Paris co-edition was printed in France by Offset-Aubin in the fourth quarter of 1980, simultaneous with the La Courte échelle Québec original.Gilles Tibo (b. 1951, Nicolet, Québec) was largely self-taught and had been illustrating children's books since 1975; this Chantimage volume comes from his early career and shows the signature airbrush-and-colored-pencil technique that would later distinguish his picture-book Annabel Lee (1987) and the Simon series, which earned him the Owl Prize (Japan) in 1989 and the Governor General's Literary Award for illustration in 1992 and 1996.
